Charles Talbot

Charles W. Talbot Attorney

Charles Talbot has been practicing since 1977, with expertise in Social Security Disability and Workers Compensation. He grew up as a soccer player and was heavily involved in the soccer community. He played for over 30 years and officiated for more than 18 years. Charles served in the military for six years as a helicopter pilot, flying helicopters in Vietnam.

In his spare time, Charles enjoys traveling and playing golf. He has traveled all over the world, including Europe and Asia. He has been married for 41 years and has a daughter.

Matt

Matt Renda Director of Litigation

Matt is passionate about protecting and advancing the rights of individuals against insurance companies and government entities. Currently, his primary focus is on helping those who have been injured due to the carelessness and negligence of others. As the firm's lead litigator, he thrives in presenting his clients' cases before judges and juries.

He earned an undergraduate degree from BYU and a Master’s degree from the University of Utah. Matt also obtained his law degree from the University of Maryland, where he played a pivotal role in the creation of Margins, Maryland’s law journal dedicated to issues of race, religion, gender, and class.

Matt and his family have called the South Sound home for 25 years. They have a deep appreciation for the Pacific Northwest, spending as much time as possible exploring its waters, mountains, and forests. The family is also passionate about live music, regularly attending local concerts and traveling to see their favorite bands.

Marissa Burkett

Marisa Burkett Associate Attorney

Marisa Burkett’s practice specializes in Social Security disability law. She earned her law degree from Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, where she developed a strong foundation in advocacy and legal writing. During law school, Marisa worked in the community law clinic, providing representation to underserved communities and gaining exposure to the Social Security disability process.

Marisa's practice focuses on guiding clients through the complexities of disability claims and appeals. Her empathetic approach and meticulous attention to detail ensure that each client receives personalized and effective representation. Marisa is committed to achieving positive outcomes and providing clarity throughout the legal process.

Originally from Syracuse, New York, Marisa is admitted to both the New York State and Washington State bars. Marisa is actively involved in the legal community as a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR) and has presented at NextGen NOSSCR conferences to help new attorneys strengthen their appellate advocacy skills.

Marisa moved to Snohomish County in 2018 and still appreciates the regular views of the Cascades and proximity to beautiful Puget Sound. Outside of her legal practice, she enjoys all that Western Washington has to offer, from hiking in the national and state parks to the many live music and entertainment venues.

Paige

Paige Brimhall Associate Attorney

Paige brings a unique blend of compassion, perspective, and sharp legal skill to her advocacy for injured clients. She is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others, and specifically the firm’s clients.

Paige holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance, specializing in the harp, from the University of Utah, and earned her law degree from the University of Wyoming. During law school, she participated in the International Human Rights Clinic, where she conducted research and advocacy related to global human rights issues. She spent a summer in Johannesburg, South Africa, working on grassroots legal initiatives. Throughout law school,
Paige worked closely with the students at the University, assisting them with navigating a variety of legal issues. Paige also played in the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra as first-chair harpist throughout law school.

Outside of her legal work, Paige enjoys traveling and exploring. She lived in the Philippines for 18 months, becoming fluent in Cebuano. Recently married, she relocated to the Pacific Northwest with her husband, and together in their free time they enjoy hiking, skiing, scuba diving, and going to the symphony.

Symone

Symone Parker Business Operations Manager & Community Coordinator

As the Business Operations Manager at Capital Injury and Disability Law, Symone Parker plays a key role in ensuring the firm's daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. With a strong focus on organization and leadership, she manages the schedule of attorney Peter Kesling while also overseeing the administrative and marketing teams.

Symone brings a results-driven approach to operations management, combining strategic planning with a deep understanding of the firm’s mission to serve clients with excellence. Her ability to coordinate across departments helps maintain a seamless client experience and supports the firm’s continued growth.

Socorro’s passion for law is matched by her deep commitment to personal growth and resilience. Growing up on her family’s farm in Yelm, Washington, she spent her childhood raising livestock and learning the value of hard work and discipline—qualities she carries with her into her legal career today.

Outside of work and study, Socorro is passionate about fitness, and building meaningful relationships. Whether she’s working out, or catching up with close friends, she brings the same energy and authenticity to her personal life that she brings to her work.

Chiara

Chiara Fulkerson Community Liaison

Chiara serves as the Community Liaison, focusing on building and strengthening relationships with local providers and organizations to keep the firm closely connected to the community it serves. In her day-to-day role, she visits chiropractic offices, coordinates outreach events, and partners with local businesses and professionals to help ensure people know where to turn after an injury. Whether she’s networking in person or connecting over email, Chiara’s goal is always the same: building genuine relationships and helping injured individuals find the resources, support, and guidance they need during difficult times.

Passionate about creating meaningful, long-term partnerships, Chiara is always looking for new opportunities to engage with the community through events, programs, and outreach initiatives that reflect the firm’s commitment to helping others.

Outside of work, Chiara enjoys spending time with her dogs, being near the water, swimming, paddle boarding, and cooking for friends and family. She loves embracing everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer and values the sense of connection, community, and balance that comes with it.

Kate Kesling

Kate Kesling Bookkeeping / Events Coordinator

Kate Kesling is a true local. She was raised in Graham, Washington, and graduated from Bethel High School. She was raised by parents that taught her the value of a good work ethic. She carved out a successful career in baking and cake decorating, earning her spatula like a true professional. She co-owned Pioneer Bakery in Puyallup for 15 years where she grew in not only her skills related to baking but also managing business. 

Kate brings a wealth of experience in small business management and ownership to our firm, where she plays a crucial role in bookkeeping, marketing, and event planning. But she doesn’t just keep the books balanced—she keeps the energy high and the team motivated.

She operates from the home office, which doubles as the family ranch, where she is nothing short of a modern-day Snow White. As she moves through the ranch, birds and woodland creatures serenade her, while others trail behind her, utterly enchanted. It’s entirely possible that small animals stitch her dresses while she hums lullabies in an angelic voice.

Beyond her talents, Kate is known for her intelligence, authenticity, and a sharp tongue that keeps everyone on their toes. Her boundless energy and unwavering support fuel our firm’s success, making her an indispensable force behind the scenes.

Jacob Kesling

Jacob Kesling Administrative Assistant

Jacob Kesling brings a strong work ethic and dedication to his role as an Administrative Assistant—values he first developed through years of competitive wrestling. The discipline and perseverance he learned on the mat continue to shape his professional approach today.

Jacob holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Pacific Lutheran University, where he was also a member of the university’s renowned Choir of the West. He is currently pursuing the APR 6 program with the goal of becoming a licensed attorney.

Outside of work, Jacob enjoys spending time with friends and family, exploring photography, and hitting the trails on his mountain bike.
